Guelph looks to be on track to a long-promised service — two-way, all-day GO train service.
According to a report to be presented to Metrolinx’s board on Nov. 22, two options are laid out on how to bring the long-promised transit improvements to Guelph and Waterloo Region — and the recommended option would cost far less than what had originally been proposed.
Under the recommended option laid out in the report, Metrolinx would negotiate for increased access to the CN-owned rail lines between Georgetown and Brampton, and would make track, signal and structure improvements on that stretch in order to better allow GO trains to share the tracks with freight trains.
