Jarret Walker’s book “Human Transit: How Clearer Thinking About Public Transit Can Enrich Our Communities and Our Lives” does an excellent job of telling us how to create a public transit system that satisfies people. Learn about the ins and outs of how transit planning works in an easy to understand format and in layman’s terms.

TAAG highly recommends this book for anyone on City Council, City Staff, Transit Planners, and for people who support and/or use transit themselves.

This fantastic summary of the book, courtesy of the Manitoba Eco-Network, sums up some of the key points in an easy to follow document (Click on it for PDF)

The below chart is from a blog posting on Human Transit called “Abundant Access”: a map of a community’s transit choices, and a possible goal of transit. This chart also acts as a guide to critical parts of the book and showcases the different themes. TAAG will be presenting some details and ideas from within the book and how they can help Guelph and Guelph Transit in the near future.
